Washington, D.C. — Today, the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources held a confirmation hearing for Donald Trump’s nominee for Interior Secretary, Doug Burgum. Like many of Trump’s other nominees, Burgum raises serious concerns as an anti-ESG nominee.
In response, Unlocking America’s Future Spokesperson Kyle Herrig said the following:
“Doug Burgum is staunchly aligned with oil executives on their goals to increase resource extraction on public lands and reduce environmental safeguards. His motivation is clear: Burgum’s largest campaign donor for both of his gubernatorial campaigns was the oil and gas industry, he leases his own land for oil and gas drilling, and his wife has hundreds of thousands of dollars of stock in fossil fuel companies, including pipeline companies and utilities.
“It’s clear that Doug Burgum will continue his anti-responsible investing crusade, even if it means hurting Americans’ hard-earned savings.”
