Washington, D.C. – Today, Unlocking America’s Future expanded its national six-figure digital and television ad campaign to Texas’ 34th District and Washington State’s 3rd District, urging constituents to tell their members of Congress to side with everyday Americans over greedy billionaires and say yes to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) new climate risk disclosure rule. This expanded campaign comes on the heels of news from the SEC that it’s staying implementation of the rule.

The campaign, which is also running across Arizona, Montana, Pennsylvania’s 1st District, and the District of Columbia, was launched in an effort to protect the SEC’s rule from the Congressional Review Act (CRA) – a legislative tool used by Congress to overturn certain federal agency actions. A House hearing on a CRA resolution is set to occur as soon as next week.

“We encourage Congress to say ‘no’ to billionaires and ‘yes’ to working Americans who want and need the transparency that comes with the SEC’s rule,” said Kyle Herrig, spokesperson for Unlocking America’s Future. “Some members of Congress who have taken millions of dollars in campaign contributions from Big Oil are engaging in a coordinated effort to kill the rule through the Congressional Review Act, despite the rules’ many benefits across the financial system and for Americans trying to save for retirement.”

Greedy billionaires up here and self-serving politicians in here want to hide financial risks from Texas farmers, investors, small business owners, and people trying to save for retirement.

It’s all part of a plan to keep you from making the best decisions with your money. But here’s the thing… you earned that money, and you deserve to know the risks when you invest it.

So call Congress. Tell them to say no to billionaires and say yes to the SEC’s climate risk disclosure rule.
