Salem, OR — On Tuesday, June 24, State Treasurer Elizabeth Steiner will join Unlocking America’s Future (UAF) and Build America Policy Council to host a press call to celebrate the bipartisan passage of House Bill 2081, also known as the Climate Resilience Investment Act, On the call, Treasurer Steiner, UAF’s Kyle Herrig, and BAPC’s Carianne Lee will highlight how this landmark bill would protect the hard-earned retirement savings of Oregonians and position the state at the forefront of responsible investing in the country.
The legislation, championed by Treasurer Steiner, protects the retirement savings of Oregon’s teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other public servants by ensuring their pensions are managed with common-sense consideration of the known investment risks posed by climate change. Speakers will emphasize why the bill provides Oregon families the peace of mind that fund managers will consider the risks of climate change when investing Oregonians’ savings and their hard-earned retirement savings will be there when they need it.
